Fall is officially here in Minnesota, bringing colorful leaves, cooler days, and plenty happening around the Twin Cities. Before we look at September’s real estate numbers, here’s one seasonal favorite worth adding to your fall calendar.
A Minnesota Fall Favorite: Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at the Minnesota Zoo
This fall tradition has become one of my favorite family memories. I’ve wandered the glowing trail with friends and family, and every time, it feels just as magical. There’s something about being surrounded by more than 5,000 artistically carved pumpkins, lighting up the trees and the forest floor, that makes you slow down and soak in the moment.
It’s part pumpkin patch, part art installation, and completely enchanting.
As you stroll through the illuminated path, you can’t help but smile at the creativity, the colors, and the cozy autumn atmosphere. It’s one of those experiences that’s even better when you share it with the people you love.
September 2026 Twin Cities Real Estate Market Update
The latest data from Minneapolis Area REALTORS® shows a clear shift in market behavior across every price range, and it’s a story of rising seller activity paired with cooling buyer demand.
New Listings Are Up, Especially at Lower Price Points
Sellers came back to the market in a noticeable way this September. The strongest increases in new listings were in the most affordable ranges up to $250,000.
This surge suggests more homeowners, and investors, are choosing to list, creating fresh opportunities for buyers who’ve been waiting for inventory.
But Pending Sales Declined Across All Price Ranges
While sellers stepped forward, buyers pulled back. Every price bracket showed a year‑over‑year decline in accepted offers, from modest dips in the mid‑market to sharper drops at both the entry level and luxury end.
This means that even with more homes hitting the market, fewer buyers are writing offers, a sign of caution driven by affordability pressures, interest rates, and seasonal slowdown.
What This Means for Twin Cities Buyers and Sellers
Overall, September’s numbers point to a market where inventory is growing but demand is easing. Buyers have more choices, sellers face more competition, and pricing strategy matters more than ever.
